What would happen if an Exo was born with a genetic defect that they couldn't use telepathy? Would that be a good reason for one to take a more violent career path? Also a heavily combat oriented suit, would it be possible? Was thinking along the lines of an isolated Exo that it obsessive about modding and improving his suit for mercenary work. Not a people person so she works to pay for the modifications, her only real passion is that suit.

Maybe she'll have a few pieces she swaps out for different purposes.

Those are called defects and you are correct, they choose the more violent path. Sounds plausible, Exos are very proud of their tech so her being obsessed with her own suit would make sense. You could even have pieces of her previous opponent's armour crafted into her suit as trophies. If it's a highly advanced piece of equipment, no doubt Miyo would want to analyse it

Well guess I've got my character last question are their projectile small arms or is it energy weapons? And which is most common as carried arms.

Both.
Most common arms are plasma and laser pistols, energy blades, gauss rifle and a force gun (non-lethal)

I'd like to hear more about ships. Can you go above deck like in an 18th century style ship? If so how do you breathe? How big are fighters
|
|
|
Post by DodoDestroyer on May 9, 2017 21:18:47 GMT
The ships have lower level (or the bowels, where the engines are located.) mid level and the deck. The deck is covered by an energy shield that also provides an atmosphere of oxygen. Breathing masks are needed during a battle, since the enemy ship could knock out the Shields.
Fighters are a little larger than a harrier jet. Incredibly agile and fast, but sport no energy shields, unless you are willing to sacrifice a lot of energy consumption and crippling the ship's capabilities. They are usually armed with laser cutter and two plasma gatling guns. Though, a skillful engineer can modify some custom weapons, a very very very skillful engineer can equip it with Frigate-class weaponry.

Myrdet is so on the boarding party or perhaps using a disposable ram jet to punch through and board.

Sparrow will be in her custom fighter, blowing enemy crafts out of her way. Dipping and diving while Miyo acts as her co-pilot and support.

And now I'm imagining Star-Lord's mask from GotG being standard issue among spacefaring citizens.
However, that still doesn't really answer the question of who's the captain. Are there any takers, or is the captain going to be an NPC like in Datura?

NPC controlled by the GM sounds good to me.

Well, I'm not going to be captain, so I'm out of the running for that. I'd be okay with an NPC.

Npc leaders in the official boring capacities are always better. More freedom less micro management

Agreed. So now that it's been settled a few more questions.
How advanced are cybernetics?
|
|
|
Post by DodoDestroyer on May 10, 2017 5:11:55 GMT
Cybernetics range from being simple prosthetics where the user can feel and move it as fine as a flesh limb and others have different properties.
A cyber eye can zoom in and act like binoculars. Combined with a brain implant, it will be able to scan people and objects.
Cyber arms can have built-in PDA and communication devices into the forearm. Can increase their Strength and some crazies even have a gun or laser in the palm. It isn't uncommon for a retractable blade for emergencies to be installed into the wrist. (Yes yes, Assassin's Creed reference.)
Cyber legs, when used in pairs, can make the user much more faster and agile. Impact absorbers so they can survive falling from great heights (too great of a height can still kill them.)
Brain implants have the most variety. These things can store more memories than humanly possible, speak and understand alien languages, link with other cybernetics, access data files and the Internet simply by closing their eyes etc. It's the most risky too, so much can go wrong with them. A well placed EMP will fry the person's brain and leave them a vegetable or dead, part of the brain must be removed for the replacement meaning something will be lost and those hacking into a brain implant can control the person in their entirety.

So how would you like things to start? The character scattered and being hired or everybody is already recruited and on the ship?

Being scattered and being hired sounds good for me. It allows us to show our character's first impressions on each other.

I would like my character to be scattered around to be hired but B says he wants his character to be already onboard as part of her personality is her loyalty to the captain.

We will let each person decide whether they're already part of the crew or have yet to be recruited.
Jacky I'm surprised. I made a bet with my wife that you would make a Klieku that would aggressively charm their way into everybody's pants. I lost a fiver.

Ah but you see I won a tenner cause B bet me that I'd make a aggressive sexual character and now I haven't so... *ca-ching*

Or you could win the tenner and still make them sexual. His past self was a sexfiend.

Here's the important NPCs, anybody can take control and interact with them. There's two for now but I will add more as they come.
Captain Silver - The Human Captain of the Frigate Black Diamond and the man recruiting some of the best in Tethran II to search for the Pirate King's mythical treasure. A middle aged man with a well groomed hair and a neatly trimmed, silver beard, his trademark. Although a stranger to Tethran II, he is a high class pirate known in the neighbouring galaxy. His refined tone of speech and mannerisms are completely strange to the rough people of Tethran II. He is ambitious, altruistic and quite honourable for a pirate, but can be ruthlessly efficient at removing his enemies and crew if they step out of line. There is a mystery surrounding the Captain, almost as if this treasure means much more to him than simply fame and fortune, like he has a personal stake in this.
A.I module 23B76 'Katie.' - Katie is the Black Diamond's ship A.I and 'first Mate'. She appears and responds to as feminine and is programmed to have the personality to be self-devloped, the only unshackled freedom she has. She monitors the status of all subsystems, security feeds throughout the ship and keeps an eye on scanners for hostiles, friendlies and space stations. Her other functions include miscellaneous tasks such as searching through the Internet for requests, medical diagnosis, navigation etc. In emergency situations, she can take the helm of the ship and assume flight control, such as if the Captain is absent. Her personality developed to be pragmatic but curious, always asking questions about others species and sometimes, about herself, but never questioning her orders. She reports directly to the Captain, she is forbidden to reveal sensitive information and report any attempted tampering with the ship and her own interface or suspicion of mutiny. Out of everyone onboard, Katie knows the most about Captain Silver, but what she knows will never be revealed.
