(OOC:if mercenary work and prison insanity aren't your thing welcome to Darwin Academy!) Note: consider this thread an alternate reality Canon characters and your own can be students or teachers in their own way. Also Canon Character may be used freely by every one here.
South Darwin Academy, not the most creative institution BUT one of its kind. On the mainland Darwins both Freak or Swig are tightly regulated and endure under strict rules and guidelines should they ever decide to enter into a school. Public school, Junior High, Highschool, College, University... they may as well be prisons for young Darwins who's only crime was being born different. Darwin Academy was built as a boarding school for all ages and all walks of life, some earning their place through Sancta-Vy scholarships and others Corporate exchange.
Yes Corporate exchange, were children Swigs often orphans or volunteers, most of them suffering incurable injustice and given another chance through Darwins Syndrome; while inducing 'gifts' or 'powers' Darwins often cures genetic diseases and defects as a side effect although Swigs are notoriously vulnerable to mental and sensory disabilities after the fact. Thusly some parents indept themselves to a corporation and allow their child to be Inducted with Darwins and this automatically makes them eligible to go to South Darwin Until they are of age to work Legally for their sponsoring Corporation.
The Sancta-Vy Scholarship is the combined wills of Vyde and Pride Initiatives, giving Freaks the world over a chance for an eductaion and a better life. Room and board at Sancta-Vy itself free of charge and access to the school. Some even have their families living in Sancta-Vy others are sent from abroad or live in Alantus' Residential quarter. They all are Freaks.
Lastly are those sent with full backing of their parents; a rarity but it happens. The rich paying to make their children 'powerful' or well trained in the use of their minds bodies and powers one way or another; much to Vyde's distaste for it. Swigs and Freaks born to wealth find themselves here along the Corporate Exchange live 'On Campus' in the student dorms.
South Darwin is top of the line, endless amounts of money funnelled into the grounds studying Dawins 'gifts' from a young age to adulthood proving a goldmine in research. The rights to research grudgingly shared between the investors the two largest being Pride Initiatives and KRV but there is a third large investor with less noble origins, Carnegan Company... legitimate on paper only and untouchable in a legal sense but everyone knows how dirty the Carnegan family is.
Classes are scheduled differently between grades and almost all teachers are Freak or Swig of considerable skill to keep their students in line. BUT three times a day Darwins take part in 'powers training' the classes divided by the power and control of the students. ONLY those of equal standings were trained together.
School rules are as follows:(pssst rules are meant to be broken delinquent heads up) -Do not use your powers in-doors or on other students or the teachers -Do not attack students or staff -Curfew on weekdays is 10pm do not wander the campus after hours and the gates to the dorms seal after hours -Absences will not be tolerated for anything less than family emergencies and health reasons -Expulsion will also make any scholarship null and void -Non-staff humans are required to have a visitors pass

Jacob Wright stopped on his way to class to check he was looking as hot as ever, not that it took much effort but it never hurt, first impression and all. He was on his way to his first class at the Darwin Institute so far it had been a massive bummer no babes anywhere in his dorm so he was hoping that there would be some good-looking ones in his class or this whole place would've turned out to be a massive wash, not that he'd really wanted to come here but his parents had sent him after having to bail him out for the fifth time. It wasn't his fault that punk had taken offense to Jacob making out with his girlfriend, it wasn't like he'd used his powers he'd just punched the bastard though a window. So now his parents had finally gotten tired enough with up with his "misbehavior" to send him to "be with his own kind", powerist asshats. At that moment he spotted a solid 8 with a mess of purple hair looking out of one of the school windows. "Well maybe this place won't be so bad after all." He thought with a grin and made his way to class.

Nox walks out of class and makes his way to his next class. Not saying anything he continues to walk moving some hair away form his eyes and continues to walk. Then bumps into a passerby. Michael faces glows beet red and he quickly mumbles out in a slew of words.
" I'm sorry please don't be mad. " Then walks off brusquely to his next class. Why am I so weird everytime something like that happens I cannot even talk to anyone it like I have a glass wall around preventing me from doing anything. Michael think about for away before shrugging it off because he thinks he weird like that.

Remy had never been to a school before. Vyde insisted that it was a great place to work on his social skills... not easy when you're mute but still worth a try.
The school speaker blared to life "All students to the stadium for an assembly. " It repeated a few times but where was the assembly??
Remy decided to stop the next person he saw grabbing a sleeve gently brought them to an abrupt stop. The child like white haired boy showing more strength than seemed possible for his size.
With some gestures he tried to ask 'where' this assembly was.

"Dipshit! Time for school!"
He groaned loudly in response, his face still planted into the pillow in his bed, refusing to move. He didn't know why he bothered; he knew exactly what was going to happen next, grinning slightly when he heard his mother burst into the door and stare disapprovingly at him, probably in that way she always does with the raised eyebrow and the disappointing 'mother' stare that she'd perfected. Sometimes he swore that being the only Freak in the family meant that he was the lightning rod for insults.
"Always nice to receive your motherly love, my dear" he drawled in a sardonic voice; his voice muffled by the pillow. Hearing a sound of exasperation from his mother, he heard his mother open and close his closet, hanging something up on the door.
"Time to get ready soon, Tom. Shirt's on the door" she added with her patented motherly stare of disapproval, before moving to head out of the door and head towards his younger sister's room, comically unaware of what she had forgotten to plan for in her plan of getting him ready.
"Ah, yes. I'll just...get up and put that on, shall I?" He drawled in a deadpan voice, unable to stop his face from rising into a smirk when he heard his mother make a squeal of surprise and shame, almost turning over as she pulled a 180 turn and rushed back into the room, continuing to bustle about when he mustered up the strength to push himself up into a semi-upright position.
"O-oh, my go-, I'm so sorry, Tom!" She blabbed frantically, helping him up into a sitting position, watching as he pushed himself over to the side of the bed and began helping him to put his clothes on, he fingers occasionally missing the mark from agitation.
"Yeah, I guess you just suck at being a mother, hmm?" He teased with his trademark smirk, watching fondly as the look on his mother's face turned from concern to exasperation once more.
"You wanna put your clothes on all by yourself?"
"Fair point." He graciously acquiesced as he put the last of his clothes on with assistance, his mother fitting his shoes onto his feet with his help and then stepping back to watch him do the laces. As he focused casually on doing up his shoelaces, his mother turned to her side and reached out to the side of the bed, grabbing his Carbon Black wheelchair and extending it as he finished his shoelaces, watching as he effortlessly maneuvered himself into the chair, looking up with playful eyes towards his mother as he did so, still looking every inch his height even when confined to his wheelchair.
"You going to eat some breakfast this time?" His mother inquired in her motherly tone of disapproval.
"Nope."
"Say goodbye to your father or your sister?"
"No."
"Give the family absolutely any indication at all that you lo-"
"-New!" He cut her off with a smirk, funneling his 'no' into a somewhat loving, but at the same time mocking tone. "It's Monday, okay? Mondays suck, but there's an assembly in the auditorium on Monday, and it sucks, and it's loud, and once I caught two students going at it in the supply closet by the hallway entrance when I was late-" he finished, taking an exaggerated deep breath after he had done, before he looked up at his mother with teenage exasperated love. "-main point, I don't want to miss this. Apparently, there's something important being said by VP Carnegan." He finished, before shuddering slightly. That guy gave him the fucking creeps. His mother funneled her brows in concern.
"Doesn't the assembly take place in the stadium?"
"Both." He answered swiftly. "Rather large amount of students, so not all of them can fit in the auditorium. Different times, though; usually on different days. So, to answer your question, yes, the stadium. Not sure why I went around all of that." He finished, before looking at her with confusion. "How do you not know this? You're on the PTA."
"That doesn't mean I listen." His mother responded unashamedly. He tipped his head to the side slightly in acquiescence once more before his mother enveloped him in a hug.
"Anyway, I've gotta go now. Love you" He added, returning the hug in full, before breaking off the hug, winking at his mother, and disappearing with a slight crack of the air, leaving his mother alone in his bedroom. His mother waited expectantly for a few seconds before he rematerialised with another quiet crack and the thunk of his wheelchair hitting the ground, raising her motherly disapproval to full as he sheepishly grabbed his backpack, phone, headphones and other things, before disappearing once more. Raising her eyebrow once more, she waited again for a few seconds before she heard another crack of air inside the bathroom. Rolling her eyes, she turned around and went down the stairs to the kitchen, hearing him begin to brush his teeth and wash up vigorously. Hearing a final crack of air whilst in the middle of making breakfast several minutes later, she sighed resignedly in motherly exasperation.
Materialising once more directly outside the school grounds, he quickly headed off, no time for any observation of the school. He didn't even know why he did it; he had a photographic memory, he could remember it all. Habit, probably. Entering the school main entrance through the wheelchair ramp, he immediately adjusted to the hustle and bustle of school life, turning his charm on and greeting everybody who stopped him with enthusiasm. Preparing to head down the main hallway to the stadium, he caught sight of a tiny kid in the hallway looking rather despondent after somebody roughly pulled away from him and headed away, leaving him alone in the hall. Frowning slightly, he decided to head over to the kid and see what was wrong. The stdaium could wait.
"Hey kid!" He greeted him jovially, watching as the kid turned instantly to look at him silently. He really was a tiny kid. Probably new; he'd never seen him before. He knew everybody in this school. "You look new; you look terrified. Or...at least as terrified as one can be in this situation." He added, not dissuaded by the kid's lack of response. "You're probably looking for the assembly since you're new, right?" He inquired with a helpful smile, widening when he saw the kid sharply nod his head without a word. Well, it was better than something. "Yeah, you won't know where anything is, huh? Not to worry; just follow my lead, kid." He declared in a tone of jovial finality, heading off past the kid and placing a hand on the kid's far shoulder, guiding him towards the assembly in a friendly gesture.
"So, what's your name, kid?" He asked affably, feeling awkwardness grow in his chest a little when the kid continued to walk forward in line with him as he pushed the wheelchair along, still not saying a word. "Well then. Strong name; I think that was my grandfather's name." He punctuated with a small chuckle, lifting his right arm from the kid's shoulder and pushing his wheelchair with his arm once more, facing forward and continuing with the kid towards the stadium in a happily agreed silence.

At first it was funny, now it's annoying. Lya was getting very upset since every time she ran into somebody they tried to take her towards the elementary wing of the campus, or get all offended when she won't talk to them, she's trying to but nobody here seems to know sign language and just assume she's being weird when she wiggles her fingers.
Despite her annoyance she's still excited that she'll be able to attend classes here, and the fact that there doesn't seem to be a dress code is a bonus, she can wear her Victorian dress without people bitching about it. Not that she looks excited since her face has been frozen in a deadpan expression since her body hardened.
As for where she is, she's not quite sure. She's mostly been wandering around hoping to find where the assembly is since she can't ask for directions. When she starts to give up hope she notices a white haired boy and a kid in wheel chair moving with what she hoped was knowledge of where they were going.
She finds herself following the two boys at a distance, hoping they don't see her... or hear the loud thuds her steps make. Between the labs she always seems to end up in, she never really had a chance to talk to guys her own age and finds herself very nervous about approaching them.

Remy is taken aback a little when he's told that he's terrified? Since when? Guess it was the young look... sheesh looking like a kid was always an issue spose the new look didn't quite do the job. Vyde insisted this look was the way to go and Em was pretty insistent too! The wheelchair boy was really nice though. The gestures weren't getting through but at least they were on the way to the assembly. Nodding to the affirmative that he was new Remy looked around taking in the school and making way toward where the wheel chair boy was leading them both. The school was rather large and full of Darwins, almost hard to believe hw many were on this island but it was the only School exclusively for them. The talking was getting a little awkward the more the other spoke made Remy feel a little out of place not being able to respond sufficiently. No white board either! Hmmm how to solve that? Wait! That room back their had a chalkboard in it! Remy held out a hand and had the wheelchair boy stop. Remy scampered over to the door... Carefully reaching for knob and turning it only for the knob to pop right off... Oooops! Remy shrugged and tossed it over his shoulder and then scurried into the room... Hmmm Chalkboard attached to the wall... they wouldn’t miss a small piece would they? Remy used a single finger to break off a good piece and some chalk before running back to the wheelchair writing on it “Hi, I’m Remy... Mute.” Written on the slate, wiping it clean with his sleeve “Sign language?” Wondering if he might by some offchance he spoke it.

“All students to the stadium for an assembly.” She just needed one more line. Or maybe two. Ok three MAX. Really was there a harm in a fourth line? Chroma sketched frantically knowing she’d have to leave the art room eventually. She can’t just hide in there forever sketching and she REALLY can’t miss the assembly. She didn’t even want to THINK about what the punishment would be.
“All students to the stadium for an assembly,” The loud speaker repeated. Chroma puffed out a breath as she erased a line. Back to two lines? Or however many she was at and- “All students to the stadium for an assembly.” Oh for the love of- “I heard you!” she hissed at the loudspeaker, slamming her notebook shut and stuffing it away. “What time is it anyway?” she pouted, really those announcements were always early anyway and right now they were just being plain old annoying! Hootie’s wings spread easily at the push of a button, quite literally, the watch hidden behind showing its face. She was going to be late if she didn’t start running. Face stiffening as her mouth moved from a pout to an awkward lip press, she snapped Hootie’s wings shut and scooped up her bag, ready to start sprinting. It was fine she could totally make it!
One hallway, two hallways, turn, don’t hit the water fountain it hurts, another hallway. Panting as her feet pushed against the tiled floor and backpack slamming uncomfortably into her spine with each step she hustled towards the stadium as best she could and… wait a minute! Sliding to a stop she blinked down the hallway to spot someone else not at the assembly. Was this her shining moment to excuse her lateness real? Eyeing the small girl in a dress Chroma took a few steps back to head towards her. She was kind of young to be in the high school part wasn’t she? “Hey?” Chroma called out towards her, trying to catch up. “This is the high school. Did you get lost?” Chroma continued smiling as she finally managed to fall into line besides the little girl and get a good look at her. She immediately let out a squeal as soon as she could fully see her. “Your dress is cute!” she asked eyes lighting up as she forgot the entire reason she was even in the hallway. Surely it was something important, but it could wait couldn’t it?

This is it, the day that I make my family proud. The day I make myself worthy of holding the Shigeharu name. As the only son of the family it is his duty to preserve his families good name. His sister's Akira and Kochi have different powers but haven't the same opportunity to go to the academy. His sister Akira is still too young for such things being only 6, while his older sister, Kochi is being groomed to marry into a rival family in an attempt to bring the two together. His family owns a steel excavation company as well as seventy percent of the steel yards in Hokkaido. To say they were well off would be an understatement. Regardless, it was his duty to expand the families wealth.
His father dressed in traditional attire and sat at the head of the assembly on the straw mat that made up the floor of the home. To his right Mark's mother, her hair done up in a bun as his sister's hair was. Each wore matching pink kimonos. His mother looked like she had been crying while his father and Kochi watch stoically. Poor Akira simply looks confused with the proceedings. "They'll be fine while I'm gone." He assured himself, knowing full well that Akira will be in tears when he doesn't come home tonight.
On his father's left sits Mark's uncle as well as half a dozen of his cousins. Each dressed in traditional Haori. They watch with mild interest though none dare make a sound. It was at this time that Mark bowed low from his position on the floor until his forehead lightly taps the mat. His father spoke up only once during the proceedings. "Make me proud my son." Just like that he was dismissed. He picked up his suitcase and headed to the air port.
A long flight later he found himself in a foreign land surrounded by people who knew nothing about him. He had dropped off his meagre amount of possessions in his dorm room before heading for the assembly that was about to take place.

Lya was internally laughing to herself over the fact that the white haired boy seemed to have ripped a chunk of chalkboard from one of the classrooms when she hears someone calling out to her.
She has a brief moment of annoyance when the girl asks if she's lost, but quickly changes her own attitude when the girl says her dress is cute. Lya was used to people making fun of her for her sense of fashion, so she's rather excited about the fact someone thought her dress was cute.
As Lya's about to thank the girl she has a moment of crisis again, this girl probably can't use sign, she has nothing to write with, and can't even smile. So she settles with one of few things she can do, she gives the girl a thumbs up. She feels bad but she hopes that the girl won't take offense over the complete lack of reaction.
Lya starts to follow the boys again, she also hopes this new girl comes with her. Lya may not be able to show it but she's hoping to make at least some friends

Upon arriving at the school and putting his things away Mark had the unfortunate task of trying to figure out where on Earth the assembly was. During his wanderings he finds a girl casually chatting with another girl. His voice having been a bit ragged from disuse over the last twenty four hours makes him sound like he's been smoking heavily or has caught a cold. With his eye covered by his leather patch he didn't want to seem anymore out of place than he already was by sounding like he was dying. So he uses some of his many years of training to run the family business. He signs the words,"Do you know where the assembly is?"

Distracted by the intricacies of the dress, her eyes taking in the details of stitching and layering eagerly as she imagined the care that must have gone into it meant that she almost missed the thumbs up. Chroma felt herself blinking in confusion. “Hmm?” Good? Yes? She tried to peer at the smaller girl’s face for some kind of indication if it was supposed to be sarcastic or not, but nothing. Now that she thought about she’d asked a question earlier that was now unanswered too. It wasn’t like she had much time to figure it out when the girl started walking again. Glancing forward she now saw what she’d been walking towards, or at least after in any case. From the looks of it she was following Phantom and… someone? Either she was starting to get really old and needed to up her moisturizer game or kids these days were looking young and younger.
Still at least it answered her question of ‘are you lost’ in a kind of round-about way to say the least. Not lost but following someone. Curiously Chroma started to walk after the girl. She hadn’t spoken so either she didn’t want to or she couldn’t, right? Should she try again? “Are you able to ta-,” Chrome stopped when she looked forward and nearly smashed into someone doing… hand gestures? She had no idea if she should be confused, concerned or offended. “Um…” she paused blinking as if whatever was being done would magically make sense if she stared just a little bit more. The answer was no. “I’m sorry I have no idea what you’re doing,” she continued apologetically. Unless he wasn’t making those gestures at her? What to do, what to do….
She felt the awkwardness sink in for a moment before nearly face palming. Of right! Why hadn’t she thought of this sooner? “Communication a la art it is!” Chroma declared rather proud of herself after she realized, moving her hands easily in front of her face and coloring some of the space in front of her a cozy pink square. To be fair nothing else was pink so it’d be a good color and if Mr. Hand-gestures here had a problem well then he had a problem? She wasn’t changing it NOW to say the least. “Just… um… don’t move your finger too fast when you write,” she continued, moving her position a bit so she could actually SEE what was about to go on. Slightly important since she’d need to be following his finger with her eyes and changing the color, or else nothing would actually happen. Unfortunately her powers lacked the interactive computer element, but no matter! She was still on the case! “Alright I’m ready!” she said watching intently so he knew he could begin. It vaguely occurred to her she might not be supposed to be using her powers, but this was clearly a communication emergency!

Mark didn't know what to make of this. He glanced at the girl who hadn't spoken yet for some kind of clue as to what her friend was doing. Unfortunately he did not get any such clue. Instead he looked back to the rather peppy girl who seems mildly excited about...something. It was kind of hard to follow everything she said. His one good eye remained trained on her to see what exactly she's going to do while the other remained closed under his eye patch. It's days like today that he wish he could simply blend into the crowd.
With a sigh, he repeats again, slower this time. "Where is the assembly being held?" This is when he begins to suspect that she actually doesn't know sign language. So in an attempt to get her to under stand he writes in almost perfect cursive. "Where is the assembly being held?"

Watching as her new friend (she hopes anyways) walked into a new person she gave an internal giggle. She was also happy to see that this new person seemed able to sign. After he wrote into the pink space Lya decided to answer.
*I'm afraid i don't know where the assembly is, however I have been following those two* she points to where Remy and Tom are before she continues to sign. *Also, if it isn't to much to ask may I learn your name? You're the first person I've been able to speak with and I was hoping to meet as many classmates as I can.*

Michael forgot that there was an assembly going on today and classes were out for this period. Pulling the hoodie on his jacket he starts to walk towards the assembly hall passing by a couple of people who were using sign language.
Continuing to walk ahead he spots a guy in a wheelchair and another person using sign language. "Should I learn sign language?" Thinks Michael as he continues to walk and not trying to get noticed by anyone.

As they continued to head down the hallway, the kid continued to refuse to say a word in response. That was cool; whatever floated his boat, ya know? It did make it rather difficult to know anything about him, though. But perhaps that was his prerogative; the mysterious one. Well, every school has their tropes. Theirs more than others, taking the whole superpowers thing into account, but the cliches could still blissfully be the same. Cliques, school events, 'edgy' kids smoking pot behind the school, you name it. The kid seemed to be gunning for one, and that was commendable if nothing else; he was already looking for his place. That was more than most do. Either way, the kid seemed to be getting a little bit distressed; perhaps he was talking too much. Quiet kids aren't ever really fond of that. Frowning slightly in concern, he opened his mouth to ask him if this was the case, only for the kid to sharply raise a hand and stopped dead in his tracks, forcing him to stop his wheelchair dead and look at him in concern. This long in a wheelchair, you learn how to maneuver smoothly. Without a word, the kid turned 90 degrees sharply and headed towards the classroom on the left of them. Tilting his head slightly to the side in curiosity, he felt his eyebrows shoot up slightly in bemused bewilderment as the kid reached for the doorknob only to rip the thing clean out of the door. Looking slightly sheepish for a second, the kid shrugged it off and literally tossed the thing over his right shoulder, before heading through the door of the classroom. Well, at least the door was open now.
"Jesus, kid; remind me not to piss you off." He chuckled affably, taking most of it in stride due to the sheer entertainment this was providing. Watching with a curious smile on his face, he felt his eyebrows shoot up even higher as he watched the kid literally rip a piece of chalkboard off of the wall, before nonchalantly grabbing a piece of chalk and heading back over to him casually, his eyes searching. "I reiterate. Jesus." He murmured with another small chuckle, watching curiously as the kid wrote something on the chalk, his eyes widening as he saw what was being written. "Ohhh, you're mute! Oh, well that explains it, I guess. I kind of thought you were going for a mysterious angle; first day of school after all, and girls do love that, ya know. Not every day you meet somebody who's mute, hmm? And I'm still talking." He realised with a small tinge of embarrassment, shaking it off with a friendly grin. Watching intently as the kid wiped off the words he'd written and started to write some more, his eyes widened in recognition once more as he saw what the kid had written. "Oh, sign language! Hold on, give me a minute..." he requested, as he started to search his memory banks for those books he had read on sign language. Must have been a while back...yes! There it was, he thought triumphantly, as his eyes lit up in accomplishment. *Some. Not a great deal; I really need to work on it. Apparently more so, now. My name's Thomas. You can call me Tom if you want. I must say, it's a pleasure to meet you, Remy* he signed with some difficulty, keeping his hopefully affable expression on the tiny kid. Remy. He really needed to brush up on his sign language for tomorrow; maybe he should become fluent to go the extra mile. An impossible task for most people. But then most people didn't have a photographic memory. *This is great for communication now, but we're a little bit late. Let's head down the rabbit hole, shall we?* He signed cheekily, a smile plastered across his features once more, his eyes friendly.
Turning his wheelchair around in a smooth maneuver, he only got about a foot forwards before he was stopped dead by the sight of a thirteen year old girl with an unnervingly blank expression, a girl who looked around eighteen with happy, jovial eyes whom he could swore he had seen around before, and bright, warm clothes, and an Asian guy standing behind the two who looked around the same age as the second girl, his face solidified in a serious expression. All of them were crowding the doorway, making entrance or exit impossible to accomplish, and all of them staring silently and intently at the two of them in the classroom with expressions of curiosity. His eyes widened in surprise.
"Hey. Guys. What...brings you here?" He asked brightly after taking a beat to compose himself, making sure that his wariness was recognisable in his usual friendly tone, his eyes searching the three of them.

Jacob groaned he hated assemblies standing around like nice little drones while some dipshit in a suit blathered on about "school values" and "you are the future". But he supposed it gave him a chance to mark the hotties and if it got too boring an apparent gas leak might get the building evacuated he smiled at the thought and made his way to the stadium.

"Arigatou gozaimasu." He says bowing low to the young women who had been giving him information. His voice, usually smooth, is gravelly. Though at this point there's not much it would do to make him stand out more son than he already is. After all he just walked up to someone and uses sign language. That isn't even mentioning his eye. As he rose he took in their reactions, the one who couldn't understand sign language looked a little surprised by his display while the one who had been signing to him almost looked amused.
"Westerners..." He thought. Having been raised by a family that prided dignity and respect above all else it was a little jarring to see those who didn't seem to. If his grandfather were here he would've surely had a heart attack from the laps in decorum. "My name is Mark Shigeharu. A pleasure to meet you all." He repeated in sign language for the other woman's benefit. "May I have the pleasure of knowing your names?" His accent was almost completely absent in this circumstance. That would've made his tutor proud, it had taken many years of practice to slip in and out of his natural tone. When he allowed it to affect his English it made him a target of stereotypical mockery. Something he would like to avoid.
Still, the fact that not everyone could sign was most curious. He had been expecting that with the prosperity that the western and European nations enjoy that certainly they would be able to communicate with those incapable of speech? Perhaps he expected too much. His thoughts are interrupted as another student comes by. It then that he realises he's blocking the classroom. Quickly he steps out of the way, "Sumimasen, we're trying to get to the assembly."

Chroma had to follow carefully as he finally stopped making hand motions at her and started to write, the space following his finger turning a distinct black on the surface so she could make out his words. ‘Where is the assembly being held?’ Oh. Well no duh that’s where everyone was heading and…wait. Chroma’s face briefly froze for a moment as she started to remember how she was already running later. Shoot. Still she nearly jumped when he started talking. Why was he waving his hands at her then?! Before she could respond the small girl started performing hand motions as well. Huh?
For a moment she was wondering if this was about to turn into a round robin of translations, but considering the next words out of his mouth was ‘Westerners’ in what sounded like an insulting tone, she’d take her chance he actually spoke the language. It made her less certain as to why his first reaction was waving his hands at her then, but that was apparently a question for another time as she attempted to figure out what was happening anymore. Wait now they were doing introductions? With a small sigh as she composed herself she let the air return to a colorless state before finally taking in the appearance of the stranger, er no Mark. He’d introduced himself. “I’m Emily, but I prefer Chroma,” she said pleasantly enough, but she wasn’t shaking his hand. Not that he’d offered, but she wasn’t going to either!
Hearing the new voice added to the mix, Chroma peered into the classroom to see Phantom and the other kid who still didn’t look at all familiar trying to exit the room. Whoops! Scooting back a bit so they could actually exit, she could already hear Mark answering the question. “Heading towards the assembly and picking up ever new student I can find, getting pranked,” she mentioned remembering how she’d hand gestured at, at this point she wasn’t sure what to call it, but a prank didn’t feel so far off, “and realizing the failings of my education,” Chroma finished casually with some amusement for the whole thing. So basically Monday. “Why were you two in the classroom?” Chroma asked finally noting the piece of chalkboard in the kid’s hands and the missing chunk from the large chalkboard in the classroom. Maybe they shouldn’t be loitering here much longer…

Lya was happy to finally have a chance to speak with somebody and happily (or at least she felt happy) introduced her self to Mark with sign.
*My name is Lya, I'm happy to meet you. Also, since you seem to be-*
Before she can finish asking Mark to translate for her she finds herself distracted when she notices that the two boys she had been following seemed able to sign to one another. From where she is, she's able to see that their names are Tom and Remy (she also realized she probably shouldn't eavesdrop but oh-well). However Lya can be a bit dense at times (pun intended) and continued to stand in the door way.
Now that she knew everyone's' name Lya was hoping she can finally introduce herself to the girl she spent all this time with, despite language barrier issues.
*Mark, If able may you tell Chroma that my name is Lya? She doesn't seem to understand sign but I still hope me and her can become friends.*

This Lya seemed to be the most pleasant to deal with out of those assembled, and likely without their help he'd end up being late for the assembly. He may be late even with their help at this point. After seeing Lya's message he translated for Chroma. " Ms. Chroma, the woman you've been speaking with is Lya. She wishes to become better acquainted with you. As you can see, she is incapable of speaking so that is why I've been speaking with her through sign." He checked his watch and sighed. "Now, while I would believe that introductions are in order, I also believe we best get moving. If you would be so kind as to show us the way."

“Ms. Chroma?” she asked trying not to laugh. “Just call me Chroma, Ms. Is way too formal,” she waved off before turning to Lya. “It’s nice to meet you Lya, and don’t worry, not even a language barrier can stop true friendship!” she continued energetically with a light laugh. Still she wanted to know how she managed to be the only person here who didn’t speak sign language. Maybe she’d have to work on that at some point. Well that or hope they were awfully patient with writing everything out. Still her pleasant thoughts were swiftly put to rest when the assembly was mentioned again. They were definitely going to be late. Maybe they wouldn’t be in trouble because there were new students who didn’t know the way?
“Oh right, we should probably get going. Follow me!” she chirped, easily slipping around Mark so she could lead them through the hallways. At least they weren’t terrible far, but if they only arrived a few minutes late it would be ideal. Not like they’d miss anything anyway. These assemblies rarely started on time anyway since everyone had to find seats and settle in beforehand. “We’re not too far at least,” she continued speaking, glancing back once or twice to make sure they were indeed following her.

Jacob sauntered into the stadium immediately scanning those few students already there and filing some of their faces away for later... introductions.

Mark dipped his head in acknowledgement of Lya and the boy in the wheelchair. "I hope we meet again. I'd be interested to learn a bit more about you." With this he fell in behind his guide, marching in a way that made it almost sound like Chroma was the only one walking. Mark has had much experience with moving quietly. The floor of the home his family lived in had a bit of history to it. It's floor was constructed with intruders in mind so that if you walked and put too much weight on any point in your foot, you'd wake the entire house as it triggered a series of chimes. It was called the nightingale floor by his sisters.

Walking into the assembly hall he removes his hood and sits back so he doesn't have to talk. Checking his phone he got a message from a friend of his "Nox man hopefully I get this job if I do you and me are playing games all week!" Man he always so energetic all the time.
Putting his phone away Michael starts to decides to take a small nap. Since his roommate Samuel left in a hurry and made a lot of noise while leaving for whatever he had going on.

Chroma almost laughed again. He was so formal, besides “You know they’re probably coming with us,” she teased. “We’re all heading to the assembly,” she continued, glancing over her shoulder as she spoke. More often than not she felt like she should be glancing around and checking he was still there. Aside from the light thud of her boots on the tile she didn’t really hear anything. Still she wasn’t about to have a long walk in silence, may as well try and pitch a conversation! “Did you come here today?” she couldn’t imagine someone like him not carrying a map day one and figuring out the place, he seemed like the type. “Did you grow up around a lot of Darwins? If not this is going to be so weird for you I bet!” she continued, glancing over her shoulder again to look at Mark.
“Oh yeah, why did you learn sign language? I’ve never met anyone who knows it and now I’ve met four people who know it. Maybe I should have picked up that instead of Spanish,” she laughed lightly. “Sorry, I’m talking a lot right? I’ll let you respond before I ramble anymore,” she continued with a good-natured laugh after realizing her mouth was working faster than anything else. Her eyes caught sight of the doors in the distance that lead to the stadium. They were only a quick trot away anyway. “I know I said I’d stop for a bit, but those are the doors to the stadium,” she continued pointing to them and glancing back to make sure he was looking. They’d covered some good ground in the process. Maybe by the time he’d answered her or committed to silence they’d arrive. Hopefully there were still some good seats left, otherwise they’d be stuck awkwardly shuffling into the first row. Ick.

Seeing all these new people Remy nodded to Tom *Thanks glad you sign a little... I heard this place was pretty inclusive* wiped his board and wrote 'Hi I'm Remy for the new group' but before he could raise it he felt the familiar tingle in the air.
Standing behind him in the hall was the schools art teacher... Vyde "Well isn't this quaint, Remy... you should put that back before the vice principle finds out." Oh crap Remy smiled sheepishly and wrote "Forgot White board."
A crackle and shift in the air and Vyde was there and back with it in his hands "Here, and the rest of you c'mon let's get moving if you're with me at least you'll have an alibi." Vyde winks solidifying his place as the cool art teacher "Emergency art history lecture."

Was that kid wearing a gas mask? Holy shit a school full of Freaks was going to be different back home he'd met some swigs but Freaks hadn't exactly been welcome in his part of town, he guessed the rich and powerful didn't like being around people who could kill them with a thought so private security had strict orders to keep them out. It kinda worried him for a moment but then he began wondering how useful some powers could be in bed and got lost in a daydream about a girl with vibrating powers...

Mark listened politely as his guide spoke in a rapid fire sort of fashion. Each time he opened his mouth to respond, Chroma was already firing off another thought. Finally after spotting the doors he was allowed to get a word in. Chroma reminded him of Akira more and more. She had a bubbly personality and loved to talk when she was nervous. Of course Akira will have to grow out of that if she's to represent the family in a dignified light. Even so, mother still dotes on her since she's the youngest. The thought brought the barest hint of a smile to his face. The more he spoke the more his voice returned to normal, it's smooth tone returning. "Both of my sister's, Akira and Kochi have Darwin abilities. Though they were born with them while I was not. I arrived in this country just a little over an hour ago. I've not had much time to go over my map." Being around other Darwins wasn't unusual, many of his father's business partners either had powers or their children did. Still, if the people he's met so far are anything to go by, this is going to be the weirdest four years of his life.
"My time here will certainly not be dull that's for certain. As for why I learned sign language..." He thought of how best to explain it. "Have you ever heard of Shigeharu steel? It's the company my father runs and my great grand father founded. Since I am the only son in the family it is my job to take it over when my father passes away. To run the company effectively, I need to be able to speak with people with varying languages. I know English, Japanese,Mandarin,German and sign language. Many of my father's buyers are from Germany and China so it makes sense that I am able to speak to them in their own tongue." He let his explanation sink in for a moment before proceeding. "Please feel free to say whatever you wish. I'm a guest in this land so it is only right for you to say as you wish."

Watching as the unfamiliar students conversed in the entrance to the classroom before they all headed off in the direction of the stadium, he shrugged his shoulders and motioned for the kid to follow him into the hallway. Might as well follow these other students even though he knew where he was going; the bubbly girl obviously seemed to know where she was going as well. ...Matrisha! That was her name; he knew that he knew it. Strangely inept with names sometimes. Especially in the morning. Especially on Monday mornings. He groaned slightly as he made to head off to the stadium, his new friend in tow, until he felt a familiar shudder and a familiar tingle of energy appear in the air. Sighing slightly, both he and the kid turned around on the spot to see Mr. Vyde, the Art teacher with more than a little eccentricity streak, sending them both a somewhat mockingly disapproval stare. Sending a smirk towards the broken piece of chalkboard in the kid's hands, the kid shrank back a little into his shirt and looked sheepish. Taking it off his hands as quick as a flash, Vyde announced his plan to provide them with an alibi before sweeping off down the corridor, expecting them to follow him. "Emergency Art History lecture." He added with a smirk.
"That'd be perfect, Vyde, if I actually was interested in Art History. No offence, but how many people do you think would buy that when they saw me?" He proposed cheekily, watching as Vyde stopped in his tracks and turned around to fix him with an exasperated, yet playful stare.
"Oh, really? And so what do you propose, Mr. Merchant?" He challenged with a smirk. Raising his eyebrows, he returned the smirk with one of his own when he saw Vyde's eyes click in recognition, before his face morphed into one of slight disapproval. "No."
"Yes."
"No." He reiterated, his eyes returning to slight exasperation once more. "Powers are forbidden within school grounds. You will get in deep trouble; as your teacher, I'm afraid I cannot allow it." He finished, watching the smirk across Phantom's face grow wider and his eyes turn expectant. He was waiting. Rolling his eyes, Vyde sighed. "Fine. But don't get caught. And if you do, we didn't see each other." He challenged, watching as Phantom broke out into a grin.
"Looove youuu." He sang in a sing-song tone, before turning to Remy, who had been watching the entire exchange. "See ya, Snow White. Don't be a stranger." He finished with a wink, before he immediately disappeared with a small crack of air, leaving Vyde and Remy alone together in the hall. Reappearing in the corridor right outside the far side of the stadium with another small crack, he craned his head to gather the direction of the stadium, smirking slightly when he heard the cacophony of voices coming from the door several metres to his left. Turning around and heading towards the door, he thought about the new kids he's met since he arrived today. He expected to meet maybe one or two, not three. Oh well; the more the merrier, right? As he opened the doors and headed in he saw that the stadium had already almost filled up; nothing had started yet, but it would be difficult to find a seat. Failing to stifle a chuckle, he headed over to his left, ignoring the main seat entrances on his right.
Thank God for disabled access. Best seat in the house, he thought, before wondering if his friends would groan at such a joke. Probably. But then again, he had the best seat in the house. Literally.
