Miku went from smiling to saying to Edward. "Get in the Runefang." She began to back up, her eyes now darting in every direction. Where is he? What does he want? She stared hard at Jocky. "Why do you keep following us?"

Renic grew just as, if not more, tense than the human. He slowly signalled to Jocky.
Jocky cautiously wrote the response: "He wishes to apologize. He had only wanted more information for his colony. You see, he is a scout whose main goal is to spot potential threats. He hadn't meaned to cause a conflict. I am his pet and companion, Jocky. He realizes that this apology won't be enough, so he has a proposition. He will give you information about four topics about him, me or the planet and in return you must not fire at him or me, or even cause any harm to any unknown being without trying to communicate first. Agreed?"

"So by looking at you Eddy you ad this hacker have so bad blood is what I'm guessing." Benedict walks up and looks Jockey in the eyes "what a strange creature you are in all my years in the field you are the first alive creature I've seen that looks like a dinosaur from my planet amazing the years of evolution you're species has gone through I can only guess!"

Ignoring Ben stumbling into the situation, Edward spoke, voice unusually low and harsh for the normally laidback engineer, "Oh no, this isn't how this is going to work. You violated a close friend of mine and now you expect it to be brushed off with a few contrite words and a bit of bargaining? Well here's my bargain. Get the hell out of here before I use the Claymore to turn this patch of land into a fucking moonscape. I won't hold your behaviour against the rest your race, because I'm guessing they're not all arseholes like you. That is the only concession you are getting here."

Renic's knuckles tightened as the human spoke. He signalled angrily at Jocky, telling him to write.
Jocky wrote down quickly: " Well excuse me! Did you expect me to take it just fine when you come along with weapons and robotic beings which may be capable of destroying my colony! My race was one of the first to come along on this planet! I will not allow any harm to be inflicted on this planet! I know what you did on Earth, all your petty bickering lead to battles, sapping away at the life of your planet. You are not a mammal, you are a parasite! You move from place to place, harvesting whatever you can with little care about the planet. You never know when to stop! Don't ever come near this forest until you admit to your mistakes as I had. I was speaking the truth, I had only wanted to know what was going on, I had little interest in conflict. I only hacked afterwards in self defense, I had no idea that the Runefangs could feel. If I had known, I wouldn't have. Farewell, humans." Jocky then dropped a device on the writing, hidden by his tail. This device was a camera. He wanted to know if they would apologize or just stick by their claims.
And with that, Jocky ran torwards Renic who, just as Jocky passed by, was swept away. They kept running until they were out of sight, where Renic sighed and said to Jocky, " I gave them peace, but they want war," Renic looked at Jocky and said "Good job little buddy" throwing him a spare peice of meat. This, he thought, is going to be tough.

Renic, once he had calmed down, had tapped into his hidden camera and decided to send a message. "For the record, the rest of my species would've killed you. If you think I'm an arse, wait till you meet them." He was not going to let them think his species was nice, because they hate outsiders, and he does.

Glaring down at the camera Edward responded, "One, hacking is an inherently hostile act, so in case you've forgotten, you fired the first proverbial shot in that little conflict. Two, with regards to our species being violent? In case you weren't paying attention, we were in the process of a peaceful first contact when you blundered in and nearly fucked it all up. Three, if Miku was prepared to forgive you, I might have been willing to forgive as well and write it all off as an unfortunate misunderstanding. But that little apology of yours? Jaw-droppingly inadequate. Sorry doesn't cut it for major transgressions and as your offer of information? Repentance doesn't mean anything if you're expecting something in exchange from the other side."

Renic replied, "I can see where your coming from. Also, may I add that I could not hear you, why do you think I hacked your cameras? However, I understand. My species is the Machinalax, a colony who hates outsiders. When I say hate, I mean 'step near and your dead' kind of hate. Also, that was not a warning from me to not come near, its based on the fact that if another scout was their, you'd be in much bigger problems. So, your not going to argue that your species is like a parasite? But I digress, if you were still interested in information, I'll give you a good location for your species. No tricks.

"Oh, and as for why I was following you, I wanted to apologize and find out why there were so little of your species. I also wanted to add: if this does become a battle, do not harm Jocky. He means a lot to me, as Miku does to you. He had nothing to do with this. "

Watching as Ben chattered away to the alien through the camera, Edward felt a stab of remorse. Not for alien, but rather for what he had said earlier. It should have been up to Miku whether to accept or reject the alien's apology, after all, she had been the one wronged by it. But instead he'd jumped the gun and made the decision for her.
"Miku" he began quietly, "I owe you an apology. I shouldn't have run my mouth to that alien. It should have been your choice whether or not to forgive it. I took that decision out of your hands and I am sorry for that."

Renic sat awkwardly on a log, unsure of what to do. He could hear faintly that the human, whose name was Edward, was apologizing to Miku about something he couldn't quite make out. Not wanting to interupt, Renic thinks about his early actions towards the humans. He only had curious intentions...right? Perhaps he assumed their society took hacking more aggressively as opposed to the Machinalax, whose entire society revolved around it. Their sports, schools, security- everyone used hacking in some way. He may have been too quick on his actions, perhaps instead of trying to remain hidden he should've just walked up to them and not hide behind his hacking ability. He had no idea that his hacks would affect Miku in such a way, or how she seems to feel traumatized by it. Had he really been so self-centered to not consider the possibility of these machines having sentience? It was hard to see Miku as just a machine. She's just so... human-like! All he had meant was to hack one of the Runefang's cameras, and then changing the language of it... and then explolding a gun. Ok, so maybe he did come off as hostile. How am I going to prove it was just a mistake, Renic thought.
Jocky seemed to sense Renic's deep thought as he put his head under Renic's hand and purred. Renic smiled as he said to Jocky,"You're a good friend Jocky, expect to see an extra bone by your bed tonight, buddy." At the mention of an extra bone, Jocky vigorously tickled Renic. However, unknown to the two, Renic's mic he had been using to communicate with the humans was on! Everything he just said, and his laughter from Jocky's "attack", was being heard. Oh dear...

"While the apology is both warranted and touching at the same time," Jennifer spoke up abruptly, cutting Kerensky off as she dramatically stood up from the chair she had been sitting in and lazily taking her feet off of the desk she had been resting them on. "I believe I would very much like you all to pick up the pace on your way over here. I anticipated that things could go wrong this early, but believe me when I say that that doesn't mean that I am not thoroughly disappointed. All of you. Back. Now." She finished, her tone authoritative and venomous as she turned where she stood and started heading towards the main corridor towards the medical bay; Dr. Barnes would very likely be residing in the laboratory adjacent to the medical bay on the far side. Dulling the link between all of them, confident that they had received the message with the severity she had intended, she was silently fuming at the entire scenario that had unfolded recently. Kerensky being idiotically brash, Raven and Crow having a domestic; she wasn't exactly comfortable with the fact that group cohesion had apparently gone to hell so quickly. Silently listening to all of the interactions taking place had certainly taken its toll on her state; she didn't think that she would potentially have to play peacekeeper to another race immediately after arriving. Once they had all reached the ship, and she hoped dearly that they would hop to it and ignore their previous distractions, they could at least attempt to return to a group that had some inkling of how a group worked.
Having traversed the corridors of the ship until she reached the medical bay, she kept her brisk pace as the door slid open to allow her entrance once more, stepping inside to find the medical bay empty and quiet except for brief crashing on the far side of the room. Instantly snapping to attention at the sound, she failed to suppress an exasperated sigh as her eyes locked on the closed door on the far side of the medical bay where the crashes were originating from. She didn't expect anything less from Dr. Barnes checking everything was in order, but sometimes she did wish that the diminutive woman had some sense of self-preservation. Remotely accessing Crow's request from earlier, she began to stride across the room with authority as she began to prep one of the medical beds for Raven's arrival as she reactivated the synthetic link between them.
"I hope you remember that even though the humans are our charges for this, that does not mean that we are under their command." She reminded Crow, her tone low and dangerous with a healthy dose of wrath evident from the start. "If you wish to allow Jefferson to speak to you in such a manner, then that's your prerogative; after all, he is your charge and not mine. Although I do feel it prudent to mention," she continued, her voice still dangerously calm as she stopped dead in front of the laboratory door on the far side of the medical bay and knocking sharply yet causally on the futuristic door. "That should he speak in such a manner again in my presence, I will not hesitate to castigate him for it. Severely." She revealed dangerously as the noises abruptly stopped from inside the laboratory, instead hearing the light sounds of hurried feet. "I do not tolerate such intolerant disrespect, Crow. He would do well to forget his ego." She warned, her head moving downwards slightly as the door opened to reveal the tiny woman on the other side looking up at her with adoration, before she vigorously gestured for the A.I. to enter the room with her hand as she began to move back into the room herself, leaving the medical bay empty.
"This place is great!" Dr. Barnes gushed, over the moon with the laboratory that she had been given, too focused on the scientific equipment to notice the A.I. looking over the room with wariness. She had already checked the camera surveillance connected to the system mainframe to ensure that nothing dangerous was happening, but it was still somewhat strange to see the room itself with her own eyes. She did have to give it to Dr. Barnes, though; she had been here no more than five minutes and the entire place was already a tip. Papers scattered everywhere, most of the machines and equipment turned on to see if they worked and simply left alone once it was discerned that they worked effectively without turning it off again, the neat organisation of the desk and tabletops messily pushed aside to make room for her own usage; it was quite impressive in a strange way. Having noticed that Dr. Barnes had stopped walking and had turned around to look at her in joy, she raised an eyebrow, unimpressed and exasperated.
"You've been here...three minutes, was it?" Jennifer asked rhetorically, the sarcasm evident in her voice as Dr. Barnes rolled her eyes and stepped forwards, grabbing the A.I. by the arm and dragging her around the spacey laboratory.
"This place has everything; it even has the top-of-the-range, government issued stuff!" Dr. Barnes gushed, her voice joyful as she dragged the awkwardly stammering A.I. around the laboratory with a surprisingly strong grip, oblivious to the A.I.'s attempts to cut in. "This place is more advanced than the labs at Caltech; how did you get all of this?" She mused out loud, chuckling euphorically as the A.I. merely blinked rapidly in surprise.
"We did have a slightly larger budget than usual, after all." The A.I. mused softly, muttering under her breath before she expertly removed her forearm from the diminutive woman's strong grip and pulling herself up to her full height as she turned around in confusion. "Dr. Barnes, I know every single inch of this laboratory; I do reside in the ship, after all." She began coolly, pointedly ignoring the look on Dr. Barnes' face. "You don't need to explain every inch of this room to me, much less all of the equipment, no matter how interesting and advanced it is; I know of it all." She reminded Dr. Barnes, internally chastising herself as she struggled to end the sentence with her usual authority due to the look of absolute hurt on Dr. Barnes' face. She had no idea that showing her around, despite the fact that she knew of it all, meant that much. Seeing the tiny woman's anguished expression fall even more as she tried and pathetically failed to hide her distress, she steeled her resolve. She would not break. She would not break. She would not-
"Fine." She broke, cursing herself silently and rolling her eyes as the diminutive woman's expression lit up with joy once again, not even allowing the taller woman another word in edgewise as she once again grabbed her forearm with surprising strength and pulling her forwards through the laboratory. As the smaller woman continued listing off comparisons and gushings and in-depth details about the intricacies of the technology, she silently sent out a reminder for the rest of them to head back to the ship once more. Hopefully a soon arrival would save her from this, although she doubted that she would allow herself to be torn away from the diminutive woman until she was finished even if somebody did arrive.
This was going to take a while.

He begins to sprint across the land he had just covered at the same breakneck speed. "Understood command." He said without any emotion. "Command, something seems off with Calvin. I've worked with him for many years and he's never displayed this level of aggression towards me. I suggest having him be put under for medical purposes and stripped of his weaponry. He's wounded so he'll likely need the care regardless of his mental state." As he spoke through his link with Jennifer he sped through the now deserted Dontarie village. Their crude dilapidated huts were completely abandoned. When he spoke again he did so with confusion tinting his voice.
"Command, be aware that the reptilian village is empty. And it looks like they're headed in your direction. From the looks of it they have young with them. Want me to scare them off or head directly back?"

Miku just stared in the direction the thing went. "Its fine. I just want to go. I don't want to be near that thing anymore." She said as she silently climbed back onto the runefang and into her seat.

Enough is enough, Raven didn't care for all the small talk. This thing was a threat it needed to be dealt with. He could feel himself slowly grabbing at his chain sword ready to split this 'pet' in two. A sigh escapes him as he decides against it, Crow was angry with him and it made him lose the desire to kill. Looking at his K-bar he studied the bloodstain from his new rival. Memories of the fight played through his head, he counts off all the mistakes he made in that engagement. "Six different take downs would have been more useful." He began to criticize his performance. "I got lucky it didn't cut my head off in the arm breaker. I got lucky that it didn't kill me on the ambush." A solemn look appears on his face as he looks up outside his Runefang's screens. "You win this round Alanna. I'll kill you next time." He becomes energized by the thought of a second fight, and he focuses back on the others.
Jennifer is clearly angry with how this day is going,he can't blame her it was a shit show. Bored of the talking he activates his jump jets to full power and blast off towards HQ. Keeping a tight grip on the alien body he captured he proceeds to really put Angel through her paces. Hitting the highest speed he can while weighed down, he performs a few tricks to stress test his mech. All lights are green, everything is running perfectly, it's like she's fresh out of the box instead of six million years old. Crow must have been doing a lot of maintenance on her during the trip.
Soon enough the ship was insight, it seems he is the first home. Parking Angel into one of the landing bays he drops the Dromed's body to the ground unsure of where to put it. He hides his P33 under his seat, while grabbing his bag of gear he climbs out of Angel. It felt good to be in a military instillation again, Raven is flooded with nostalgia, his whole life was inside bases like these. A soft smile is on his face as he begins to walk down one of the corridors. Ignoring med bay for a few minutes he finds the personnel quarters, and leaves his bag on a bed in an unclaimed room. Closing the door behind him, he heads out knowing Jennifer will be beyond pissed if he takes another detour.
The doors to med bay slide open inside was Dr. Barnes and Jennifer. Years of training overload him as he slams his heels together, straightens up his spine, and stands in salute of Jennifer. "Calvin Jefferson reporting to medical as commanded sir!" He shouts staring straight at her, complete focus falls on her as he ignores Dr. Barnes entirely. His face remains expressionless, as he stands waiting for his next order.

Watching Miku walk away, Edward couldn't help but feel that he had messed up handling the situation. Taking a few steps towards the Claymore, he paused before addressing the hacker again.
"By the way? I understand hacking out of curiosity, really, I do. Hell I've been fired from some previous jobs after I cracked their servers out of sheer boredom. But there's a world of difference between hacking a mainframe and hacking an AI. Simply put, one is a thinking, feeling being. Imagine if someone were to crawl inside your head, rifle through your memories and force your body to do things against your will. You'd find that more than a little traumatising, no? Well, that's what you put Miku through. So I hope you can see why neither of us are exactly prepared to forgive you right now. Perhaps once Miku has had a chance to recover maybe, emphasis on maybe, she might be willing to forgive you. She's a good person, so it wouldn't surprise me. But right now I think she just wants to be as far away from you as possible."
With that said, Edward climbed into the Runefang and re-engaged the autopilot, heading towards the Kamar-Taj once more. During what was left of the trip he tried sink back into his work on patching the firewall, but found himself unable to focus on it, instead finding himself thinking over their encounter with the alien and wondering if he could have handled it better.
He was still lost in thought when he felt to gentle shudder of the Runefang coming to a halt in one of the landing bays. Beginning the shutdown process for the Claymore Edward spoke without looking at Miku, "I meant what I said earlier Miku. If there's anything I can do, even if it's just lending an ear to listen, let me know. But right now I should go and check in with Jennifer. She seems understandably pissed at how this mission has gone so far and I really don't want to annoy her any more. Don't worry about checking in, just take some time for yourself. I'll find a way to cover for you if need be."
Climbing out of the Claymore, he consulted one of his PDAs to determine Jennifer's location and set off towards the medical bay, arriving just in time to see Raven snap off a picture perfect salute towards Jennifer.

"...which will really help with any research I end up doing! So what do you think; pretty neat, huh?" Dr. Barnes asked the much taller woman she was still grabbing by the forearm breathlessly, her hopeful face looking up once more at the A.I.'s expression of neutral amusement that she seemed to reserve for her.
"You realise that I was already aware of this?" The taller woman asked rhetorically as she raised her eyebrow, her monotone voice barely giving anything away.
"Yeah, I know." Dr. Barnes responded with as she rolled her eyes and headed off towards the entrance back into the medical bay, Jennifer instantly falling in line and walking alongside her. "But it's still awesome. I'd always vent to you on Earth about this as well."
"That is true." The taller woman acquiesced, tilting her head to the side slightly to show her response. As the two women strolled somewhat leisurely towards the medical bay, the conversation between them turned casual and reminiscent as it had done so many times in the past; the A.I. didn't have the smaller woman's penchant for daydreaming, but she did enjoy indulging it all the same. Their conversation continued as they exited the laboratory and headed back into the advanced medical bay, both of them looking to the side at the other until they stopped in the middle of the medical bay and turned to face the other, the taller woman casually leaning back against a medical bay bed and crossing her arms as the smaller woman continued to talk. Both of them invested in the other, the conversation was abruptly broken, however, by the loud steps of somebody walking into the medical bay with purpose. Further observation revealing the figure to be Jefferson, he took sight of both of them and promptly lifted his back ramrod straight and saluted at Jennifer, Dr. Barnes jumping slightly at the loud, barking tone he took announcing his presence and Jennifer simply raising an eyebrow. The perfect image of a soldier.
"Do you always call synthetic women sir, Mr. Jefferson?" Jennifer asked rhetorically, her casual tone betraying the slight sarcasm in her tone before she uncrossed her arms and turned her head to notice another door opening and Kerensky entering the medical bay himself, any words on his tongue dying in his throat as he took in the situation in front of him, his face somewhat unreadable. "And hello to you too, Mr. Kerensky." She added somewhat casually, sending a gaze his way before she turned back to Jefferson. " First we need to ensure that everybody is in the right state to operate; Dr. Barnes will be assisting you, Mr. Jefferson," She began, jerking her head slightly to the side towards Dr. Barnes, who was standing still with an awkward smile on her face, her eyes turning resolute and warm as she realised what she had to do before heading off towards Jefferson as Jennifer turned on the spot and marched over to Kerensky, her own gaze turning steely and somewhat intimidating as she resumed her usual role. "What happened out there..." She began once more, her voice somewhat soft in order to keep the conversation between them. "...wasn't exactly the best of situations, hmm? So, before you go and set yourself up on a medical bed yourself, would you mind telling me exactly what happened out there?" She asked, her eyebrows raised in measured anticipation.
---
"Right! Uh, hey Calvin." Charlotte began as Jennifer stalked off in the opposite direction, raising her hand softly in a nervous wave as she let out a nervous laugh, ambling forwards towards the medical bed closest to the taller man still standing in the same spot, his eyes following her as she walked. "Now, uh, Jen has informed me of the situation that we need to accommodate." The smaller woman began, her voice still somewhat soft, but unmistakably earnest as she stopped in front of medical bed and began to tap quickly on the interface, activating various different uses of the medical bay and preparing it for detox.
"Don't worry, I'm just prepping the bed for detox; after we've got all of the chemicals out of your system, then we can get started on you. It's not much, don't worry; we'll just need an IV in your upper arm, really. It'll feel weird, but it won't hurt." She continued, her voice becoming more casual as she entered her element, before heading over to Jefferson a few feet away from the bed. "You ready?" She asked, her voice gentle as she softly tugged on his arm with a hopeful smile, silently motioning for him to head towards the bed for detox.

“No ma’am sorry ma’am.” He answers back annoyed at the robot’s tone. How dare she talk that way to him she is a machine, while he is an actual person she has no right to be so damn smug. He watches her walk towards Edward, Raven doesn’t give him any acknowledgement, his sight still set on Jennifer.
The sheepish Doctor began speaking, though Raven didn’t care all that much about her, she was cute he guessed, but cute doesn’t save you. The truth is she is weak she should never leave this room, this is all she is good for. Raven was insulted she would be given a Runefang it was a waste of resources, he knew fifteen other soldier he had personally served with that were not given a spot, but someone like her and Edward were allowed. They better start pulling their weight around, otherwise he would no longer concern himself with their wellbeing.
A tug on his shirt is all it takes to snap himself out of his thoughts, he turns his body towards the threat conveniently blocking Jennifer’s sight of the Doctor. In one swift movement, their hands become intertwined, he squeezes her thumb between his thumb and pointer, and fluidly twist her hand at the wrist. He stops himself before breaking her thumb and wrist, hurting the only medic is a stupid idea, besides she didn’t do anything wrong. She may get a bruise from it, but she’ll be alright. A genuine feeling of guilt comes over him for a second anyway, he releases his hold of the poor girl, and starts walking towards the bed.
“I apologize, reflexes kicked in.” He whispers an apology making sure it was just loud enough for her to hear, he sits on the bed looking over the array of medical devices. His knowledge of medicine is not vast, but he does have first aid training and he knows how to apply his own treatments. “I can handle the detox.” He states coldly an annoyance in his voice starts to rise. He removes his shirt revealing a multitude of surgical scars all over his body. Truth be told he hated the detox, he always felt terrible afterwards and the high of his combat chems makes him feel like a god among men. Losing that feeling was always unbearable. With that he grabs the correct IV and jams it into his arm. “Just focus on my hand.” He states looking at the mess of dried blood still attached to his knuckles. “Also, I may have a few broken ribs I’ll need them looked at. I’m going to be in a lot of pain when this is over so I’ll need something for that.” He takes a breath, while letting the IV begin to drip the cold fluid fills his arm. “That will be all doc.” He says in an authoritative tone. “Thank you.” He adds a lot quieter unsure if the words even left his lips.
Closing his eyes, he tries to relax, a pang of guilt hits him hard, as he remembers how he treated Crow. That man was the only friend he ever had and Raven hit him. “He deserved it though.” A voice tells him. “He touched you without your permission.” The words crawl through his head, the worst part is they were starting to make sense. All that talk about humanities sacrifice, and Crow has the gall to put his hands on Raven. A fire begins to burn inside him, but his eyes start to become heavy. The detox was kicking in his vision begins to fade, and after a few moments his blinks become longer and slower, until he peacefully falls asleep.

Arriving at Kamar-Taj, Benedict walks out of his mech then walks of "Man I haven't seen Barns and Jen in away" he thinks to himself. Roaming the corridors of Kamar-Taj he finally realities he lost great this is just like before thinking about why they we're called here. "Well looks like I'm stupid." Ben whispers to himself as he finally thinks about what still is inside his stomach remembering the somewhat vaguely familiar corridors of Kamar-Taj he finally found the medical bay. Walking into to the room he sees everyone a feeling of happiness fills him upon seeing this sight.
Opening his mouth he says "Sorry I'm a tad bit late to the party! Hey Barns and hello to you Jen it's been a cold awaking filled with wonders that, I only could of have dreamed in my sleep." His voice filled with his own excitement.

Miku listened to Edward offer to cover for her and couldn't help but notice how much he was trying to make her feel better. Edward had always been kind to her despite the fact that she wasn't even a real person. She knew she'll have to thank him for that afterwards, after all, Jen can be pretty scary when she wants to be. Even so, she still needed to see her. She might be able to understand what she went through and..if worse comes to worse she should destroy me if I'm a liability. If she was going to be a constant threat to the mission because of this hack then it would have to be done. After a moment's deliberation she climbed out of the Runefang and followed the path Ed took to get to Jen.
She found them in the midst of discussion. "Reporting as ordered." She said shooting Edward a half hearted smile.
---
Having not received any order on how to proceed with the reptilian tribe he decided to leave them be and proceed back to base. When the reptilian tribe gets there they won't be a threat so if we need to deal with them we can. As he continued his break neck pace towards the HQ his thoughts went back to Calvin. "Sacrificed everything so he can get himself killed. That's going to be hid epitaph if he doesn't quit flying off the handle."

The sun was low on the horizon, it's light fighting in vain against the encroaching shadow. As it had been ever since Lowca had been born. In his father's time it was said that there were months where the sun did not set for months at a time. These times were of great celebration, the Ashari tribe and the Kildos would come together and share what they had with one another. The old ones would cook with the children while the adults would dance around the statues of the creators. The mystical beings that legends spoke of descending from the sun itself to grace mere mortals with their presence. The stories are passed from generation to generation. Lowca had no use for these stories though. The creators were not going to keep his belly full, they certainly didn't for his father who died at the age of 32. A life nearly unheard of in length. Most were lucky if they lived to see their twentieth summer. Lowca was edging towards his seventeenth summer already, wouldn't be long until a beast or starvation did him in. He still had yet to father any children which was beginning to concern him. If he didn't continue his line then his name dies with him. A thought that terrifies many of the men in the village. Usually the villagers picked a mate when they entered their fifteenth summer. But because of the raids with the Ashari many villagers have been killed, his own mate Fiore perished due to the cold during their first winter together.
He shook his head to banish these thoughts. Dwelling on the past won't do any good for anyone. He focuses his attention back to his task at hand. His fur moccasins slipped in and out of the recently fallen snow with hardly a sound as the lone hunter stalked his prey through the elder wood. His target had been on the move for the last few days. An old trig had separated from its herd during the blizzard. A trig was a large deer esque creature with enormous curling horns nearly three meters tall. It kind had only started appearing a few years ago out of seemingly nowhere. Good thing too, the tribe would've starved without its meat. His friend Patri said that he found the first one and that it came covered in the creators runes. Most scoffed at him because of it. Patri was a bit too fond of the Kaim berries so most have hard time believing anything he says. Lowca lowered into a crouch and proceeded forward with his bow knocked in case he spotted his target. He named his prey Nahla, as is tradition among his people. The hunters give name to the beasts they hunt so that they may thank them when they feed the village. Nahla was a wiley old trig to be certain. She didn't get to be this old without knowing when danger was on her tail. Twice she had evaded him. Jumping away at just the right time to spoil his aim or catching wind of before he got into position. Though on the last try she had been too slow in her escape, taking an arrow in her haunch. From the tracks in the snow it was clear that she was feeling the effects of the blood loss. Her steps were getting erratic, there was a spot just up past the tree line where it looks like she feel and got back up. She couldn't keep going much longer.
He was proven right when he spotted his quarry laying in the snow in the middle of another clearing. She bleated and grunted as she kept trying to stand only to fall back into the snow. He could see from here that his arrow was broken off with a dark splotch and a jutting broken piece of wood showing where he had connected with her. While other hunters would proceed into the clearing to dispatch her up close he knew how unwise such a plan was. Those horns she thrashed about with were no joke, he'd seen his brother get gutted by those horns when he thought his target was finished. Yeeran was never renowned for his intelligence. He wasn't going to go out the same way. Best to let it wear itself out before he moved in. Firing anymore arrows towards the creature didn't appeal much to him either as he didn't want to spend the rest of his time at the village making replacements. Catching the birds needed for the process would be a hassle he didn't want to partake in. As darkness fully enveloped the land Lowca sat on a branch of a nearby tree that overlooked the clearing. Nahla's struggles and cries were becoming less and less frequent. A light dusting of snow was coming down giving Nahla the appearance that she was being covered with a white shroud. Luckily the wind wasn't very active at this moment. His heavily insulated clothing was really coming in hand at the moment. He huddled against the trunk of the tree with his hood pulled over his ears. He had seen many a hunter with frostbite because they didn't keep their ears and digits covered. He rubbed his gloved hands together and let out a dragon's plume into the cold winter air. The Ashari said that when you could see fog when you breathe you're actually seeing the spirits around you. As a proud Kildos he knew that was false. After a few more moments of watching he noticed that Nahla had stopped breathing. He sighed and climbed down from his perch and gathered up his litter he had prepared to help transport the animal back home and marched out to Nahla. As he reached down to close her eyes he heard something snap to his left. His head snapped in that direction only to find himself staring off at nothing. He shook his head and decided it's about time to start heading home. He dragged his kill onto the makeshift litter and began pulling it towards his far off home. An hour into the journey he looked up with surprise to see something quite odd, the sun was back but it seemed to be falling rather rapidly. Smaller other suns were falling as well! He stared in amazement as they landed off in the distance.

"Oh, I'm perfectly aware that it could mean either," Jennifer began in a somewhat nonchalant tone, crossing her arms and casting her eyes up to the ceiling automatically. Some of these idiosyncrasies that she had picked up from Charlotte were rather strange, to say the least. "But I'd like to get your perspective, at least. I've already calculated quite a great deal, but I've not actually synced with Miku yet, so I didn't really see what happened for real. I don't need a shot-by-shot recollection, just what you can remember." She finished casually, her tone authoritative but nowhere near stern; Charlotte had always told her that she had a penchant for sounding very subtle in her intentions when she wanted to be. Considering her origins, that was little other than a compliment.
However, her follow-up comment was interrupted when her divided conscious that allowed her to access every camera in the ship simultaneously alongside her physical body caught sight of Jefferson quickly reaching out to grab Charlotte's wrist and twist sharply, an instinctive cry of pain bursting from the doctor as her face contorted in pain and confusion. Whirling around faster than ever she thought possible with a murderous expression, she immediately started to make a beeline for Jefferson, her empathetic programming shooting at lighting speed; she didn't get the need for it most of the time since she was supposed to operate efficiently, but when it flared up out of her control, that's when she realised how it must be for humans. Served her right for choosing to make her empathetic programming involuntary to be closer to humanity, but how dare he; how fucking dare he even touch somebody so deserving of indescribable adoration with a single malicious thought in his head. Indeed, she would have physically reprimanded him with vigour has Charlotte not sent her a vivid look of worry, almost instinctively shaking her head at the taller woman and making her stop dead in her tracks before she'd even taken a single step. Exchanging a long look with the diminutive woman as Jefferson began to hook himself up to the machine, oblivious to the silent conversation going on between the two women, Jennifer making her intentions clear and Charlotte softly shaking her head, eyes wide and her own message blaringly transparent. Finally acquiescing with an unpleasant look on her face and sending Charlotte a look saying that she trusted her but didn't like it, she turned back to Kerensky as she caught Jefferson injecting the IV into his upper arm as he lay down on the bed. Incorrectly. Rolling her eyes and Charlotte started to make an embarrassed hurry towards her lab on the other side of the medical bay, an awkward cross between walking fast and outright running, she manually activated one of the emergency IV machines in the bed, controlling and maneuvering it to correctly inject itself into the back of Jefferson's hand. The adrenaline going through his system meant it likely that he wouldn't notice it; especially when she activated the emergency anaesthetic into the IV. She'd send him to sleep for now, and activate the detox when he was out and less likely to assault somebody else. Looking at Kerensky with a raised eyebrow, she simply waited for a few seconds before Miku and Benedict arrived in the medical bay at pretty much the same time, both of them standing ready.
"Well, isn't this just a lovely family reunion." She remarked dryly, her sarcasm evident as she turned towards the two of them, casually leaning backwards onto a medical bed. "Miku, I'd appreciate it if you could share what happened with me from your own perspective; if you recall, we have to manually mature our synthetic link to share an actual consciousness when permitted, so you can sync the code from the main computer in the main laboratory next to the mech suits." She began, pointing a lazy finger towards the door. "You know where it is, I don't know why I'm explaining it to you. If you want to take Kerensky and chat, you can if you want; I'll come for him later." She continued, keeping up her appearance of almost nonchalant leadership as she pushed off of the medical bed and headed towards Charlotte's laboratory, expertly managing to avoid sending a murderous look Jefferson's way, who had already fallen asleep; he wouldn't wake back up until she allowed the anaesthetic to stop. Judging on his actions, that wouldn't be immediately soon. "Oh, and Benedict? I've taken the liberty of cordoning off rather a large section of Dr. Barnes' laboratory for your own personal research; be it science or mechanics, what have you. I'd say keep it down, but as you know, one time a machine exploded and Dr. Barnes didn't look up from her work, so go nuts. I rather think that today has been disconcerting, so when all of you are done, I'll show you to your quarters; just call me. I'm in the walls, after all." She finished dryly, not leaving any time for any of them to respond as she strode through the automatic doors of the medical bay into Charlotte's laboratory.
Taking sight of the diminutive woman sitting at a desk on the far side of the room next to the one-way window looking outside, no doubt scribbling scientific notes in her favourite science notebook, she headed over somewhat somberly, her mouth turning up in a slight half-smirk nonetheless when she saw the small woman totally engrossed in her own notes, not even acknowledging the taller woman still walking towards her.
"Are you okay, Dr. Barnes?" She asked concisely, allowing some tone of concern to seep into her voice, unable to keep the smirk from returning when she received no response. "Jefferson is out for the foreseeable future; I activated the anaesthetic and allowed the detox of the chemicals from his body to commence. Do you want me to take a look at that?" She offered softly, motioning her head towards Dr. Barnes' right wrist where Jefferson had grabbed it, still red and painful-looking. If she had a stomach, the sight of it would probably make it turn, although as per usual, it seemed Charlotte hadn't even noticed it, her suspicions confirmed when she again received no response. Letting out a soft laugh, she felt more at ease seeing Charlotte in her natural state. "I'll make you some pop-tarts." She added as she turned around and started heading towards the kitchen, her smile growing even wider as she heard Charlotte hum appreciatively, just loud enough for her to hear. Most would hear a non-committal hum, but she had spent enough time with Dr. Barnes to know when she was genuinely appreciative.
Even if she was too engrossed in science to properly remember or even hear what she said. Six million years and she was back to being the scientist-wrangler, making sure she ate and slept when she went on one of her science benders. Charlotte seemed to be getting back into the irritating groove of things already. But she'd take it. Gladly.

The sound of Ortega’s head splatter was loud, the gun shot louder. It was October 25th 2832 Calvin was in the middle of nowhere Africa finding some terrorist organization. He never cared about the ‘who’ or the ‘why’ of a mission, he just wanted to be pointed in the right direction and told to kill. A sniper was somewhere in the apartment building across the street, Calvin had saw it he assumed Ortega did as well. “I guess not.” He thinks to himself as he rips the dog tags off the gore covered stump that once served as a neck.
The radio speaks up inside Calvin’s left ear. “Report Raven what the fuck is going on up there.” Eagle’s voice rings through him, even petrified in the field of battle her voice was soft to him, comforting like a mother whispering to you as you fell asleep. Vulture, Eagle, and Falcon were covering the escape route, while Raven and Osprey gave support fire from the third floor. “Osprey is down I’m field stripping him now. We have a sniper on the south west side of the apartment complex on the fourth floor.” Raven’s voice was as calm as always, being under fire was normal for him, stripping a comrade’s body was normal for him, being in some god forsaken part of the globe while the native populace wanted to kill you and do unspeakable things to Eagle was normal to him. Osprey had one full magazine left, judging by the weight of the magazine he had in his gun he had seven rounds left in that one. His Bolter was out of juice so it was useless, one frag grenade, one incendiary, and a flash bang hung from his belt, Raven took them all.
“Raven we need that building clear, I can send Vulture if you need back up.” Her voice is muffled by the sounds of gunfire, they were still clearing another building. This wasn’t right there was too much resistance, they were supposed to be unorganized. It didn’t matter it was time to go to work.
“Negative. I’ll take care of the sniper, just finish your mission safely.” That was the closest he could get to telling someone he was concerned for them. A moment later he was on the ground floor surveying the road ahead. There was a burned out tank still smoking a few meters ahead, the stream of smoke would block the snipers view. Raven sprints across the street as fast as he can. The trip across no man’s land feels like an eternity, any decent shot could have picked him off, but the bullet didn’t come. He slams his back into the armor of the thank, the heat of the fire combined with the heat of the sun was overbearing. With the chems and stims filling his veins, he felt unstoppable, but even he was reaching his limit. It was the fourth day of a three day mission, he’s had three hours of sleep in those four days. His chems were wearing him thin, normally he’s had a detox by now to set his body chemistry back to normal, but when their evac chopper was shot down it put an end to that dream.
He breaches the door and moves in, the foyer was clear, and quiet gunfire could be heard in the distance most likely the rest of his squad engaging hostiles. Raven moves up the stairs as quickly as he can, every second he waste in here means another second everyone else is in danger. A few words are loudly spoken in a language he doesn’t know. It sounded fearful, maybe concerned did they know he was here? He prepares his flash bang and throws it into the door way. It releases and screaming can be heard five voices it sounds like all blind and deaf now.
A few stray shots fly out the door, hoping in vain their target would be stupid enough to charge in immediately. Taking no chances he throws the incendiary grenade, it burst following with a light almost as bright as the flash bang with screams even louder to follow. Slowly they die, painfully and horribly they all die. Raven walks in the still smoldering room his rifle raised ready to meet any enemy that survived. They were kids no older than fourteen all burned to a crisp some of them are still alive they breathe, barely they won’t be alive for much longer. Walking towards the far window where the shot that killed Osprey originated from. A small boy sat clutching an old rifle to his body he was malnourished and covered with burns, the look of fear was in his eyes everything was about to end. Raven squeezes the trigger a loud, but familiar sound rings through the room the shot is clean straight through his brain the child is dead instantly. “Raven reporting in hostiles neutralized moving to assist your location.” He says calmly as he walks through the apartment once again.

Alanna woke with a start coughing a sticky black ichor into a bowl held in front of her by Grieg the tribe shaman. "How... long... have I..."
"Been unconscious? Too long exile." Exile! That woke her up as she turned to snarl at Roggo who was crouched by her feet with his stupid shit-eating grin. "What are you talking about!" "You lost your weapons female, until you find them you are not allowed in the village." She remembered those bastard demons had taken them from her. "You were lucky to survive the venom." Chuckled Roggo "This is why women shouldn't be warriors." She wanted to smack his stupid face then but felt far too weak the blow to her pride only somewhat softened by the flash of annoyance that passed across Grieg's face. "I think you should leave now Roggo." HE said quietly. Roggo swung his greatsword over one muscly shoulder and left the tent still chuckling. Alanna closed her eyes letting the darkness take her once more but one final thought crossed her mind. "I'm going to find those fucking demons, I'm going to kill them and I'm going to get my swords back."
